Our guest shares a painful season in her life and how God guided her through it. She encourages us to draw closer to God in our suffering and to focus on his purpose in order for us to livebeyond our circumstances.

<description>Transformation can seem daunting when you’re going through challenges and enduring pain. We can find ourselves asking “why me” but when we acknowledge that transformation is a process and not a destination we can grow and heal. Our guest, Jamie, reminds us that we have to start by pausing and reflecting on our current state in order to make changes and embrace the work God wants to do in our lives on the path to transformation.
She emphasises the need to shift our perspective and see that God uses those hardships and equips us as we heal; which enables us to speak into the lives of others with compassion and understanding. When we embark on the path of transformation it impacts our mindset and our lives in positive ways. We have to invest time and step into opportunities for growth because when we do we transform.

<description>When we endure trauma, we can often normalize it and get stuck in it by stuffing it and not wanting to deal with it. A critical step in working through trauma happens when we find the courage to acknowledge that change is necessary.
Our feelings are often an indicator that something is wrong and that we need to make a change. Our guest, Heather, reminds us that God has a plan for our lives and anything we've been through we can grow and learn from. She outlines steps she has found useful in her journey of healing. She encourgares us to be aware of uncomfortable feelings and the message they are giving us to make a change and seek help.
If you feel like you're in the dark or need help, reach out to a crisis center (Dial 988), medical professional or reach out to us and we can put you in contact with a life coach.

<description>It's important for us to know who God really is. Unless we understand who God really is everything else is out of order. We gain perspective and when we study the Word of God for ourselves we see who God truly is instead of seeing God through the perspective and sometimes misrepresentation of others.
Our personal relationship with God is so important in getting to know Him better. Our guest shares her journey of developing a personal relationship with God which showed her His love for her. She encourages us to lean into the truth of who God is as we face challenges and remember that He is always there for us.

  <description>Trigger Warning:
Life can sometimes come at us with challenges and hurts that leave an indelible mark on us. When we have experienced trauma, it can seem impossible to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but realisng we have options is the first step in the process. Pursuing healing is not easy as it requires courage to admit that something is wrong, and that we need help as we embark on the healing process.
Our guest shares her story which includes her experiencing trauma as a child and repeatedly as an adult. She shares 3 ways she has worked to heal and reminds us that we need people and safe community as we process through past hurts and traumas.
If you or anyone you know is struggling and needs help, please reach out to a licensed medical professional or crisis line. For more encouragement find us on Instagram &amp;amp; Facebook @purposefullivinginc or visit www.purposefullivinginc.org.

<description>We all have moments when things go wrong and then something else goes wrong and then something else and suddenly your day starts to spiral out. It is in these moments when we need to pause and assess our emotions. Our guest suggests we take a 3 step process to 1) Recognise the thought, 1) Acknowledge the feeling and then, 3) Move into action as we reset. We can then create a shift from the negative and course correct.
By being intentional and aware of our thoughts and emotions we can choose to spiral up instead of spiraling out.

Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event which often affects us long after the incident itself. Our guest shares her experiences of trauma in 3 different instances and shares how she found her way to triumph from those traumas.
Trauma can be experienced in different ways and to different degrees but we don’t have to face this alone. Our guest reminds us to reach out to trusted community when we are processing through trauma and to prioritise ourselves in order to get to a place of peace, freedom and healing.
If you need support or are going through trauma, reach out to our care team and coaching team who are waiting to walk alongside you.

<description>Peace can sometimes seem distant when we are constantly on the go and get swept up in the hustle culture of society. We can find ourselves stressed, over committed and overwhelmed. But God offers us a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We gain so much from prioritizing peace - we are able to heal, we are able to reflect and to realign where we need to. When we have peace we find clarity! Our habits can sometimes detract us from peace by feeling anxiety, and when we are aware of this, we get to shift those habits and invite more peace into our lives. Our guest shares that she has to be intentional about ensuring she regularly reflects on her habits and time to better incorporate activities and habits that foster peace in her life.

<description>Clearing the clutter is not only about our spaces but also clearing the internal clutter. In many cases our external environment mirrors our internal space and when we recognize clutter it can be an indicator that we need to address something internally as well.
Our guest lays out a 3C’s process and encourages us to consider the condition, create a plan , and then commit to change when approaching decluttering. Her practical ideas can help you declutter a physical space and can also be applied to our emotional space as well.
She anchors this in her acronym of CLEAR which reminds us of God’s unconditional love for us, His presence in all things and His goodness.

<description>Embracing your NOPE is an acronym our guest created to help assess our networks, our goals and determine where we need to cut back. Taking the time to reflect on who we spend time with, what we spend time on and how we spend our time helps us to be more intentional with our time and energy.
Saying no can be difficult sometimes, and we often feel we have to explain ourselves when we do say no. When we are authentic with our yeses we can be authentic with our nos.

<description>When life throws us curveballs, we find ourselves asking "Why me?" and although there is a healthy aspect to acknowlegding the situation as it is, we can get stuck there and that can negatively affect every aspect of our lives. Sitting on the island of "Why me?" doesn't help us to move forward but there is hope. When we move into acceptance, and look for possible steps to move us into action, we can start the process of healing.
When we shift our perspective and choose differently we can start to see the big picture, and see God working in our lives. We can start to see the lessons, open ourselves up to choices we have and embrace the healing we need. Our guest shares a simple 3 step process to shift from "Why me?" thinking. She encourages us to let go of judgment and approach solutions with compassion. She reminds us that God is working for us, and has a beautiful plan for our lives.

Our guest Crystalynn Godek is the a certified coach, and founder of Heart Over Head Coaching. She is a wife and mom of two. As a coach, she helps busy moms put themselves on and at the top of their to-do lists and renew confidence in themselves.

<description>When we think of kindness, what first comes to mind is someone doing something nice for us but when we consider the depth of kindness we see that it is more than that. God offers us kindness even when we don't deserve it, He offers us kindness not to cheer us up but to show His love for us. Even when we make mistakes, God restores and redeems us.
Kindness is a quality we value in others and one we have at our disposal to offer others, freely. Our guest, Heather, encourages us to go beyond ourselves and our comfort zones to offer kindness in small ways or big ways. She further challenges us to ask God to show us kindness, to ask in specificty so we may grow in faith. We know how kindness affects us, and we know how the ripple effect can affect others. As we go about our day, can we show a little kindness, and spread a little love on our way.
For more encouragement find us on Facebook &amp;amp; Instagram @purposefullivinginc or visit: www.purposefullivinginc.org.
For more on our guest visit: https://www.heatherbaysmusic.com/. Heather is a first call studio singer in the Nashville Tennessee and Indianapolis markets where she records voice-overs, jingles, choral demos, film scores, video game scores and works on other personal projects.
Heather is an experienced and seasoned performer and has sung the national anthem for The Indianapolis Colts, The Indianapolis Pacers, and the Indiana Fever and has performed as a featured artist with many symphonies around the country.

<description>Loss is a topic we often shy away from as a society but all of us at some point or another will go through it. Having suffered several devastating personal losses, our guest Jodie, shares her journey of finding hope, of finding life after loss.
Grief can overhwhelm us when we cling too to it, and if we don't deal with our loss we can find ourselves unable to function. For some though, it's easier to deny grief and that can hold us back from living fully as we try avoid hurt, pain, and in turn avoid hope, joy and love. We need to take the time to acknowledge our loss and grieve in order to move passed it. Our guest reminds us that even in times of grief there is joy to be found everyday. She encourages us to work through the pain, as difficult as that might be, and to find purpose from our pain.
Have you suffered a loss recently and have struggled to move passed the pain? Our coaching team is available to speak to you and walk alongside you. For more information see: www.purposefullivinginc.org.

<description>Seeking clarity requires us to be brave enough to acknowledge what lies beneath the surface. We often go throguh life in survival mode, not quite in tune with what's truly going on around us; we over-schedule ourselves and avoid what’s really bothering us. When we are authentic and honest with ourselves we are able to uncover what we truly want, and make steps towards that.
Our guest outlines a process to clarity by starting with first identifying the roles and characteristics that best align with who we are and identifying our core values. She cautions us not to overanalyse or focus on our perceived weaknesses but instead look towards our strengths.

<description>As women we are often so willing to help others but struggle to ask for help. We overextend ourselves and suffer in silence when help is sometimes just a call away.
Our guest shares about her difficult upbringing and how seeing her mom struggle led to her journey of wanting to serve others. As a successful professional, she realised that she can't do it all, and didn't need to. She started a company, mySherri, which exists to show others that being able to receive is just as important as giving.

  <description>We are celebrating 50 episodes!
We’ve talked about a variety of topics from “Genuine Connections” to “Forgiveness” to “Self-care.” Our podcast is underpinned by our 4 pillars: to heal, grow, inspire and empower! We have had some amazing guests on our show who have shared their stories vulnerably, openly and authentically with us. With each episode we aim to encourage women but more so to be real about the difficulties we face as we navigate life.
In this episode we are reminded that “we need to feel it to heal it,” that we thrive in community, that our lives have a purpose, and that God is at the centre of it all. As we look back we have a lot to be grateful for, and we appreciate you all for listening.
For more encouragement find us on Facebook &amp;amp; Instagram: @purposefullivinginc or at www.purposefullivinginc.org.

<description>Unforgiveness robs us of peace and contentment and it festers by allowing bitterness and resentment to settle in.
When we start on the path of forgiveness by being honest about our feelings and thoughts, we start the process of releasing all the emotions which hurt us. Although difficult to move on from hurt, we need to be willing to process it, and heal. Our guest, Bre, reminds us that there is no set timeline for forgiveness and that we benefit most when we confront the unforgiveness within us and pursue healing.

<description>Our addiction to distractions robs us of joy and peace. We turn to distractions to avoid our lives, to distract us from what's really going on. Often trauma influences our ability to rest as well.
During the holidays especially, we become overly occupied with busyness that isn't always necessary, and turn a season which is meant to birng us joy and hope into one that exhausts us. We can delight in God's joy through worship and being present as we rest in Him. We then allow ourselves the rest we so deeply desire and deeply deserve.
This season ask yourself: What is stelaing my time and energy and how can I better prioritise what brings me joy and rest? We encourage you to be present in the moment and take the time to slow down in order to pursue joy and rest.

<description>Not all resolutions need to be verbalised. Our guest shares about a difficult relationship with a parent and how holding onto unforgiveness negatively impacted her self-image and the relationship.
We sometimes hold onto untrue perspectives when relationships we value don't look or feel the way we expect them to. We don't always have to actively confront issues, sometimes we can make room for God to heal the wounds of bitterness, hurt and anger and replace them with peace.
For more encouragement find us on FB &amp;amp; IG: @purposefullivinginc or on our website: www.purposefullivinginc.org.
Leave us a review or let us know what topic you'd like to hear us cover.
 Special Guest: Susan Barnes.

Shame tries to convince us that we are failures because of the mistakes we've made. We start to define ourselves by our missteps and shortcomings. In this episode our guest shares her experience with shame which led to her making poor decisions, and potentially endangering herself in the process.
When we shift our perspective from what others think to our true identity, we are freed from the shackles of shame and are able to heal. When we have the courage to be vulnerable and authentic, we also make space for others to share thier stories, and know that they are not alone. We are encouraged to meditate on what is true rue, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy, in order to shift our perspectives from shame and instead embrace the freedom we deserve (see Philippians 4:8).

<description>As women we often focus on others first, and we put ourselves last. This is where self-care comes in, we have to prioritize time for ourselves. Although self-care can be manicures and massages, it can also be self-responsibility by taking care of our health and making sure we listen to the signs our bodies are trying to communicate to us.
We have to learn that self-care is not selfish, and realise that the impact we hope to make can only be possible if we take care of ourselves as well. When we make self-care a habit, we ensure that we are filling ourselves up to be the best versions of ourselves. It doesn’t have to be complicated. We encourage you to find one thing this week to do for yourself.

  <description>Trigger Warning: Sensitive content
The topic of hope is a favourite at Purposeful Living and one we know many people relate to. Hope can sometimes seem lost when we face hurt, grief and difficult seasons. It is often in these times when we need to cling to hope the most, and be expectant that God will show up when we least expect it.
In this episode our guest shares about periods in her life when she needed hope the most. She reminds us to rely on God, to remember that we have a choice as to how we respond in any given situation, and that community is an integral part in providing comfort and a safe space in challenging times.

<description>Are you advocating for yourself? Do you politely challenge when you believe that your wellbeing or that of a loved one could be better addressed if you were listened to? Often we believe that by speaking up we are being impolite, when in fact we often know more about ourselves and our capabilites than others.
Have you ever known through your gut instinct that something was wrong, or needed to be changed and when you spoke up you were right? In this episode we explore how we need to speak up, trust out intuition and be open to possibilites that lay outside the norm.
Follow us on Instagram and Facebook- @purposefullivinginc and find out more about our sevices at www.purposefullivinginc.org.
We would love to hear from you. Leave us a review or DM us.

<description>We all have a destiny; one only we can fulfill, one the world needs. Our destiny is determined by our intentionality to pursue purpose.
We empower ourselves when we view our journeys as either learning or winning, and give ourselves the opportunity to embrace the season we're in and find purpose in the wins and the challenges that life brings our way. We can find comfort in knowing that God walks alongside us as we pursue our destiny and hold onto the reminder that we don't have to overthink or overcomplicate things.
